Variational quantum simulation of the quantum critical regime

The quantum critical regime marks a zone in the phase diagram where fluctuation around point plays significant role at finite temperatures. While it is of great physical interest, simulation can be difficult on classical computer due to its intrinsic complexity. In this paper, we propose variational approach, which minimizes free energy, simulate and locate computer. algorithm adopts an ansatz by performing unitary operator product single-qubit mixed state, entropy analytically obtained from initial thus energy accessed conveniently. With numeral simulation, show, using one-dimensional Kitaev model as demonstration, identified accurately evaluating temperature crossover line. Moreover, dependence both correlation length coherence time with are evaluated for thermal states. Our work suggests practical way well first step investigating systems temperatures devices few qubits.
